Longitude were contracted by Osprey Shipping to undertake the engineering for the transportation of the offshore wind farm substation topsides from the fabrication yard to site.

The first tasks were the modeling of barge in MOSES to check stability, longitudinal strength and the motions during the North Sea tow. The model was also used for the analysis of the ballast plan for load on and off of the substation.

The results of the motions where then used to design the grillage and seafastenings to support the topsides and transfer loads into the barge.

Longitude provided a responsive service to Osprey including a re-run of the whole analysis in a short timescale due to last minute changeout of the transportation vessel.
