Can you give us a glimpse into your day-to-day life at Longitude?
I lead the Nantes-based structures team, with a primary focus on offshore wind foundation projects. I am responsible for managing engineering design and analysis, ensuring project execution aligns with international standards, and contributing to the development of proposals. I ensure high team performance, client satisfaction, and strict adherence to quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) standards.
What inspired you to join your profession?
I’ve always been passionate about the environment and the transition toward cleaner energy. Growing up near the sea, I developed a natural affinity for the ocean, which probably explains why offshore projects felt like such a natural fit. Becoming a structural engineer in the offshore wind sector allowed me to combine that personal connection with my interest in contributing to the decarbonisation of energy.
Can you share with us something exciting that you are currently working on?
I’m really excited about the growing global pipeline of offshore wind projects – it’s such a dynamic and fast-evolving space. It’s motivating to think that we can play a role in shaping this future and contributing to the development of cleaner, more sustainable energy worldwide. At Longitude, we’re also actively expanding our involvement into the detailed design of offshore wind foundations, which is a big and exciting step forward for us as a team.
Looking ahead, what do you think is key to driving sustainability in your industry?
Driving sustainability in the offshore wind industry depends on continuous innovation, smarter design, and taking a lifecycle approach to engineering – everything from material selection to decommissioning. It’s clear that collaboration across disciplines, digitalisation, and scaling up supply chains will play huge roles in this transition. As engineers, we have a unique opportunity to embed sustainability into every decision we make, making sure that renewable energy development is not only clean but also efficient and responsible.
Besides work, what do you enjoy most about working within the ABL Group?
What I enjoy most is the great atmosphere and strong connection with my colleagues — not just here in the Nantes office, but also with the wider team across the UK, Japan, and many other locations. Even when working remotely, there’s a real sense of camaraderie. Moments like our Christmas trip to Bristol with the UK team (with a quick stop to meet Paddington!) really highlight how special the ABL Group culture is.
