Design and engineering consultancy Longitude has been selected to provide marine operations engineering for the installation of a landmark floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) off the coast of West Africa.
The unnamed FLNG is located in 20-40 metres of water depth, and is expected to have a capacity of approximately 2.4 million tonnes per annum of natural gas. It will be equipped with topside gas treatment, liquefaction, utilities, power management, and a hull-based LNG storage management system.
Longitude has been subcontracted to perform the engineering on the FLNG station keeping, submerged swivel yoke mooring tethers hook up, and riser pull-in, including procedures development.
Longitude will also provide a hook-up commander and station-keeping masters during offshore operations.
“This is a significant energy project that will facilitate LNG export to the wider African continent and abroad. We are pleased to support the installation of the FLNG terminal with specialised design and engineering solutions that will support the unit’s long-term performance.”
Chong Hui Phong, Longitude’s Regional Director for Marine Operations in Asia Pacific.
