Same Company. Same People. New Name. Bigger Horizons.
Brazilian naval architecture and engineering consultancy Proper Marine has officially rebranded as Longitude – the design and engineering arm of global consultancy ABL Group.
This completes Proper Marine’s integration with Longitude, consolidating both companies’ position as an international leader in naval, offshore, and renewable energy design and engineering.
“This may be the final step in our integration into Longitude – but the beginning of an exciting
new chapter for our clients and colleagues. Our team in Brazil remains the same, with the same technical commitment, passion for excellence and close client relationships. Only now, we are connected to a global network of more than 200 multi-disciplined engineers in more than 15 countries. This further enables us to offer fully integrated turnkey solutions to a wider base of offshore clients, in an expanded range of locations.”
Bernardo Xavier, Co-founder of Proper Marine and Regional Director for Longitude Brazil and South America
One Team, One Vision
Proper Marine was acquired by Longitude January this year. Since then, both teams have been closely working as one to support projects in Brazil and internationally.
“Our journey so far reflects the unique value that this union offers our clients and colleagues.
We’ve formed international project delivery teams to support Brazilian projects with a global footprint, deploying expertise seamlessly across countries like Denmark and Australia. Our USA team has benefited from the local market insight and in-country client interface, for critical projects in Brazil. As well as this, our colleagues are actively involved in new knowledge-sharing and have access to a wider pool of expertise – sparking new ideas for innovation and development to benefit our markets.”

Longitude & Proper Marine in Numbers
Global experts in naval and offshore design and engineering
Together, Proper Marine and Longitude have doubled their global technical capacity, with an enhanced and more diverse track record of projects:
- 200 multidisciplined design and engineering consultants
- Presence in 15+ countries
- A track record of 3,800 projects
- A portfolio of 140 ship designs
- A legacy of engineering excellence since 2006
This strengthens Longitude’s ability to support more clients and more projects, across the lifecycle of their floating units and offshore assets.
Strengthening ABL Group’s Commitment in Brazil
This rebrand also officially expands Longitude’s footprint in Brazil and reinforces the wider ABL Group’s
presence in this strategically important marine market.
Alongside ABL (energy and marine consultants) and OWC (renewable energy specialists), Longitude enables ABL Group Brazil to deliver an end-to-end technical offering to support clients in the safe, optimised, and sustainable delivery of projects in maritime, oil & gas, and renewable energy.
“With Longitude now firmly present in Brazil, we have created a solid bridge between locally applied engineering and globally developed innovation. This is Proper Marine’s founding vision realised – bringing Brazilian engineering excellence to the world, and I am truly excited for what is to come.”
