Roberto Longo, Senior Consultant, Longitude Engineering, will be presenting “CABLE INSTALLATION ANALYSIS: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE” at The Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) on the 28th February 2019. Power cables typically account for 10% of the construction cost of offshore wind farms but create 80% of insurance claims, with around 60% relating to damage during construction. DNV GL formally awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification to Longitude Engineering on 30 July,2018. ISO 9001 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for a quality management system (QMS).  Longitude Engineering delivers specialist design and engineering services in the marine, energy and defence markets across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Successfully achieving this accreditation demonstrates Longitude’s ability to consistently deliver products and services that meet both customer and regulatory requirements.  Using the ISO 9001:2015 standard will help Longitude Engineering to better organize processes, improve efficiency and to continually improve.

Longitude concludes pre-decommissioning plan contract for PTTEP

Longitude Engineering has developed a cost effective decommissioning barge concept for the safe removal of small oil and gas platforms for the PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), a subsidiary of the Thai state owned oil company. The primary aim of the works was to develop a viable and cost-effective alternative to conventional ‘reverse installation’ through the use of heavy lift crane barges, for the removal of the topsides and jackets. LOC Renewables signs on to deliver offshore wind cabling expertise in Taiwan

Longitude Engineering, the specialist naval architectural design and engineering team of LOC Renewables, has been contracted to undertake a month-long feasibility study on behalf of premier Taiwanese subsea cable installer, Woen Jinn Harbor Engineering. The agreement will see the Longitude team assess a cable lay barge for Woen Jinn and advise on the specifications and conversion work required to fit the barge for offshore wind operations.
