The OFON Phase 2 project involves the installation of four new platforms at the OFON field, which is 30 kilometres from the Nigerian coast in 40 metres of water.

Longitude was instructed to conduct a multi-body dynamic lift analysis of a 1,800 tonne jacket from a barge using a large shear leg floating crane. The analysis included preparing hydrodynamic models of the transportation and crane barges and a mass model of the jacket, then connection of the bodies with mooring lines, bridles and a crane hook with appropriate stiffness’s.  The installation was then discretised into a number of steps and time domain analyses were run to investigate the dynamic stability of the system and calculate the maximum forces and motions.
